FOOD BANK PROGRAMSOOD DISTRIBUTION:
As the largest distributor of public and private emergency food for a seven parish area, last year we provided over 11.2 million pounds of food to more than 75,000 low income and below poverty level households in northwest Louisiana. DISASTER RELIEF: As a disaster responder we provide immediate assistance to our area non-profit organizations, churches, pop-up and faith based shelters and other individuals. During the 2015 and 2016 spring flooding, we distributed over $250,000.00 of food, water and supplies to disaster victims. BACKPACK PROGRAM: Chronically hungry children are provided with a backpack of food to take home for the weekend and holidays. Each 7 - 10 pound weekly bag includes items such as granola bars, fruit juice and pop top canned food. Contact the Food Bank for more information on the Back Pack program. KIDS CAFÉ AFTER SCHOOL MEALS: A national program of Feeding America that provides hot meals and nutritional education to low-income children in already existing after-school programs. SUMMER FOOD SERVICE PROGRAM: Provides nutritional breakfasts and lunches for hungry children who have no access to free food when school is not in session during the summer months. SENIOR PROGRAM: Designed to help the elderly s-t-r-e-t-c-h their food dollars, low income and home bound seniors who are 65 and older or 55 and older with a disability receive a monthly box of non-perishable groceries. MOBILE PANTRY: Provide food to rural pantry clients on a monthly basis. DISTRIBUTING GOOD: A national program that provides new clothing, household items and toys to individuals in need. CLIENT OUTREACH: Provide access to additional public resources for clients such as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) services. |
