Empty Bowls Hunger Awareness Event 2023
Empty Bowls Hunger Awareness event raises funds for food for 1,000,000 meals
Empty Bowls Hunger Awareness Event is the Food Bank of Northwest Louisiana’s
main fundraiser of the year. This year’s event, marking the event’s 18th year anniversary, was held at Bally’s Shreveport on Thursday, September 7th. Attendees enjoyed a modest dinner featuring hearty soups and bread. Donated items and services were available through on on-line auction. Every attendee received a hand painted ceramic bowl of their choice. These bowls serve to remind us of all the empty bowls in our community that do not get filled.
Our event can only be successful with great support from its sponsors. We are extremely grateful to the following sponsors of our 2023 Empty Bowls Event.

FOOD BANK FACTS: As a hunger-relief organization, the Food Bank of Northwest Louisiana acquires, solicits, stores, and distributes food and other essential items to low income children and families through a functional network of 150 community and faith-based nonprofit organizations across Caddo, Bossier, Webster, Claiborne, Bienville, Red River and DeSoto parishes. These non-profit organizations consist of homeless shelters, church food pantry programs, soup kitchens, residential centers, and schools. We save these organizations millions of dollars each year by providing free and low cost food and products.
